IN A WOMAN’S WORLD

Little Mix. The girl group I’ve always listened to ever since I was in fourth grade. I always enjoyed listening to their songs, such as “Black Magic” and “Secret Love Song”. All throughout the years, their music were always on top charts. As I continued to listen more of their songs, I learned that their main concept was feminism, girl power, and the like. Most of their songs are about feminism, for instance, “Salute”, “Power”, “Strip”, “Joan of Arc”, “No”, and “Woman’s World”. Their song “Woman’s World” straight up tells a story of what it is like living like a woman. Overworked yet underpaid, discriminated, seen as weak, always got told how she got to be, what she got to wear, and how she speaks. And she shouted, just for her to be heard since it is hard for a woman to stand out and get noticed.

Occupations such as being a teacher, nurse, doctor, office clerks, and even nannies, are the common employments of women – not to mention these are also really helpful for the fundamental needs of a person in life. Women play such big role for they are also often as the ones taking care of their home. Mothers take care of her children, and husband. She takes care of housework. Women are seen as weak most of the time. Well, as a matter of fact, they are not. Amidst the pandemic, they made it through. Not just men, but also women frontliners faced the risks of working during the pandemic.

A woman, is not just a woman. She is a daughter, a mother, a sister, a role model, a hero. Don’t ever judge a book by its cover. Just because that is how her body is made, doesn’t mean she can’t have the same treatment as men. Women are way stronger than you think. With or without the pandemic, they have always stood as our heroes. They were always there to provide our needs – when we were hungry, when we got sick, when we needed help in certain situations such as homework. Women are just as strong as men are. And hopefully, equality will finally reign and no women will ever be seen as weak anymore.

“And if you can’t see that it’s gotta change

Only want the body and not the brains

If you think that’s the way it works,

You ain’t lived in a woman’s world.
