Glimpse of the World Wide Web

The world wide web (www), also known as the internet. It all began in the year 1969 with ARPANET that is intended to promote the sharing of super-computers amongst researchers in the United States. This grew through the years and in 1972, email was born. Ever since, we had been able to communicate virtually without the struggle of sending mails that took a long time to receive.

The internet has always been a global wide area network that connects computer systems across the world. It holds a lot of things like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google, and other more, including www.blogger.com.

This first quarter of ICT has been interesting for me. I have learned a lot about the internet, parts of a web, and making a blog account. My knowledge about the blogger website started to sharpen when I learned the steps on how to create a blog account. I had fun customizing my own account. I also took note on how to avoid plagiarism so I wouldn’t get violated.

In the following weeks, I gained knowledge on how to accurately search what I want and need in the web by being specific and narrowing down my search request into its individual facets. Another way to have a specific result is to use Combining Search Terms. These are Phrase Searching, Boolean Logic (AND, OR, NOT), Pseudo-Boolean Logic, and Term Weighing.

At the very last weeks, I learned more about WAN and LAN, data rate units, and the importance of internet access.

Moving on, I will continue to learn about the internet even further and always keep in mind to keep myself and my information safe. The internet contains a lot of information and anything else that we need. Ever since we had the internet, life had been easier. Although, there are still some downs besides the positive effects of it. Viruses and Hackers still exists to corrupt and destroy details we have in the web. Either way, we have to stay safe with the information we have and learn to use it with good intentions.
