FATHER, YOU ARE KING OVER THE FLOOD

The pandemic made a major change to everyone’s lifestyle. It was a challenge for everybody to adjust, and adapt the new normal. Although some may not have seen it yet, through the darkest times, the brightest light we have is God. Before, people were free to go anywhere, and even be in crowds – specially at churches. Will it be the same this year?

Lenten Season is the season where people commemorate the sufferings and death of Jesus Christ. During Lenten season, people usually do three traditional things: praying, fasting, and alms-giving. It is a religious observance in the Christian liturgical calendar that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends approximately six weeks later. This year, the Lenten Season starts on March 2, 2022. On Ash Wednesday, the palm leaves from the previous year’s Lenten Season are burned, and are placed on a worshiper’s forehead in the shape of a cross by either the priest, lay ministers, or nuns during a Mass. This is to symbolize repentance of a participant. In addition to the events, we also have the Palm Sunday, Holy Monday, Holy Tuesday, Holy Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Black Saturday, and Easter Sunday.

In the Philippines, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday are regular holidays, while Black Saturday is a Special Non-Working holiday.

However, now that we are in low risk of corona virus cases, there’s a possibility that we are able to go out in attending events of Lenten Season. Just don’t forget to always follow the implemented protocols in order to keep yourself, and others safe as well.

All things considered, whatever happens in life, whether it is pleasant or disappointing, we should always remember that God is there, and be thankful for all the things he have done for us. Therefore, we must give importance to the Lenten Season because this serves as our respect and memory in remembering our salvation as Christians. Any issues that we encounter in life, we are not alone, for God is always right by our side to guide us.

“When you were in your lowest moment,

and you were alone…

I did not turn My face from you.

I saw you, under the fig tree.”

- John 1:48

  3. I absolutely agree that we must give importance to the Lenten Season because this serves as our respect and memory in remembering our salvation as Christians. God is our provider, and he is our father. He is always there for us when were alone, he always forgive us from our sins, and he always bestow when we have nothing. God is everything. Therefore, we should be always thankful to him every single day. Let's not condemn and question God in difficulties, because he has his reason. As they say, "Everything happens for a reason!" God is our Hope. God is Love.
